As a result of the 3G Sunset, as well as the opportunities of 4G (LTE) and 5G networks, CloudHawk will cease to provide technical support to 3G devices as of April 30, 2024.
As wireless network providers continue to evolve their technology to provide faster and more reliable service, older technology must be discontinued in order to support technological innovation and evolution. Consequently, wireless providers have been shutting down 3G services to make way for new generations of technology, specifically 4G (LTE) and 5G. Moving forward, CloudHawk will focus on providing the next generation of fleet & asset tracking technology.
While CloudHawk will no longer be providing any updates, patches, security fixes, or actively researching issues pertaining to 3G devices, we will still be available to answer general inquiries. Furthermore, 3G documentation will remain accessible in the Knowledge Base within our support portal.

The EOL means it’s time to upgrade. The end of technical support for our 3G devices occurs in sync with the end of 3G networks. US wireless carriers ended 3G service in 2022, and Canadian wireless providers are expected to do so over the next couple of years. So, while your 3G devices may continue to work in areas where there is still 3G service, that service won’t last long, and your older devices could encounter problems that can’t be fixed.
Should you travel outside of 3G service areas, or not upgrade fast enough, there are several risks. Most significantly, you risk losing connection to your valuable assets. Losing tracker and sensor data can harm operations and customer service, as well as increase the risk of loss, theft, and spoiled cargo, and/or jeopardize compliance.
