DTSA unveiled its electric trucks at an event in Lanseria, South Africa, attended by industry stakeholders, media, and customers.

The newly launched range includes the Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 and eActros 400, which are designed for heavy-duty distribution applications.

The eActros 300 is available in 4×2 and 6×2 wheelbase configurations, while the eActros 400 features a 6×2 configuration, offering a range of up to 400 kilometers on a single charge.

Features and Offerings

The electric trucks from DTSA are aimed at reducing carbon emissions and noise pollution in logistics operations.

The eActros models are equipped with advanced electric drivetrains that provide zero emissions during operation.

Additionally, DTSA continues to support the FUSO eCanter, a light-duty electric truck that was first introduced in South Africa in 2020.

The company plans to expand its offerings with a new sixth-generation FUSO eCanter range set to launch in 2025.

Support for Electric Truck Adoption

To facilitate the transition to electric trucks, DTSA is offering an e-consultancy service.

This service assists customers in planning the necessary charging infrastructure and renewable energy solutions required for operating electric trucks efficiently.

The consultancy covers everything from developing a rollout plan to full depot electrification, ensuring that customers are well-prepared for the shift to electric mobility.

Industry Collaboration and Future Plans

Maretha Gerber, President and Group CEO of DTSA, emphasized the need for collaboration across the industry to make electric truck operations viable in South Africa.

The company is working with Aeversa, a commercial charging infrastructure provider, to establish charging stations and design depot solutions for fleet conversions.

DTSA’s entry into the electric trucks market represents a step towards sustainable transportation and highlights the growing trend of electrification in the global commercial vehicle industry.

As more companies look to reduce their carbon footprints, DTSA’s electric trucks are poised to play a crucial role in the future of logistics in South Africa.

Conclusion

Daimler Truck Southern Africa is setting a precedent for sustainable transport solutions.

The introduction of the eActros and continued support for the FUSO eCanter demonstrate DTSA’s commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility in the evolving landscape of commercial vehicles.

As the need for electric trucks escalates, DTSA is well-equipped to guide the industry toward a cleaner transportation landscape.
